BORN FROM BULLSHIT
Kikai Garage was founded by a couple of mates who grew up pulling parts off cars, making them nice, bolting them back together and finding out what works. It started with ordering parts from Japan and eventually turned into going to Japan to source them in person. What began purely for us and our own toys grew into doing it for others as well.
We specialise in old Japanese parts, particularly from the 80s, 90s and the 2000s, the real Golden Era of JDM. That said, it doesn't stop us from enjoying old Aussie, Euro or the wonderfully weird Japanese cars either. We carry brands from Pioneer to Kenwood and Blitz to Zero Fighter. If it's cool and it suits a build, we're interested.
We're based in Melbourne, Australia and service builders worldwide who appreciate the small parts that complete the picture. Whether you're after something for an 86, RX3 or MK4 Supra, we've got you covered. If you need any extra info send us a message. We've had our hands dirty in the past so we might be able to help you out on something build specific.
HOW WE PREP YOUR DECK
デッキの整備 — What happens before it ever reaches you
Every head unit that comes through Kikai Garage gets pulled apart before it's ever listed. Case off, board out, every connector and ribbon cable checked by hand. Belts get replaced if they're perished, lasers get cleaned, and the whole board gets a proper once-over for corrosion, dry joints, and anything else 20-30 years of Japanese summers might have done to it.
We also dig into the board itself to see whether anyone's been in there before us — even on units where you wouldn't expect it. It's surprisingly common to find a re-soldered joint, a swapped capacitor, or a quietly replaced part from a previous owner or tech, and we make a note of anything we find. From there it's full testing — power on, disc mechanism cycling, display and button function, Bluetooth where fitted, and a proper burn-in before it goes back together. If it needs a recap or repair on our end, we sort it before it's listed, not after you've found it. It's why we can stand behind these decks even though, being vintage electronics, we can't offer a traditional warranty — we've already done the homework so you don't have to.
