Panasonic CQ-VX3500

The Panasonic CQ-VX3500D is a double-DIN receiver with CD and MiniDisc transports, an FM/AM tuner and a DSP section. The model code printed on the manual's back cover is CQ-VX3500D; the fascia itself reads CQ-VX3500, the D being Panasonic's domestic-market suffix. The manual's part number is YFM284C353ZA.

The DSP section takes two input channels and delivers four output channels, with seven selectable space modes. The equaliser has seven bands centred at 80, 160, 320, 640 Hz and 1.6, 4 and 10 kHz, adjustable across plus or minus 12 dB in thirteen steps. The manual also documents a Human Equalizer function, a spectrum analyser display, and a Super Dynamic Bass Boost control, along with a listening position selection and a subwoofer setting reached through the SBC-SW menu item.

The CD section is specified as two channels with 16-bit linear decoding, a frequency response of 20 Hz -> 20 kHz, signal-to-noise of 90 dB measured to JEITA and wow and flutter below measurable limits. The MiniDisc section covers 5 Hz -> 20 kHz with the same 90 dB signal-to-noise figure. CD-R media is supported.

An auxiliary input is provided at 2V sensitivity into 10 kohm, and the pre-out delivers 2V into an output impedance of 600 ohm or less. The manual documents changer control for CD and MD changers, an MD input, a reset switch and a remote receiver, with the CA-RC55D listed as the remote control.

Output is rated at 16W x 4 per channel at 1 kHz, 1 percent and 4 ohms, with a maximum of 41W x 4. Supply is DC 12V negative earth at a test voltage of 14.4V, drawing up to 8.5A at rated CD output.
