Kenwood RX750MD + RD350
24 September 2026

The Kenwood RX-750MD is a single-DIN MiniDisc receiver with an FM/AM tuner and control for an external CD player or disc changer. Kenwood's designation on the manual cover is MDレシーバー〈CDプレヤー/ディスクチェンジャーコントロール〉. The manual is shared with the RX-650MD below it, publication B64-1198-00, printed 1999. Mounting dimensions are 182 x 53 x 154 mm with a mass of 1.5 kg.
The unit carries no CD transport of its own. The CD player or disc changer named in its title is an external unit operated over Kenwood's changer control, which is what the RD-350 in the paired listing provides.
The MiniDisc transport uses a GaAlAs double-hetero laser diode at 780 nm with an eight times oversampling digital filter and a 1-bit digital-to-analogue converter, running at 800 -> 400 rpm under constant linear velocity. Frequency response is 20 Hz -> 20 kHz within plus or minus 1 dB with 0.5 percent distortion at 1 kHz, 80 dB signal-to-noise, 80 dB dynamic range and 70 dB channel separation. Wow and flutter is below measurable limits. That 0.5 percent distortion figure is the highest quoted for any MiniDisc transport recorded here, two orders of magnitude above the 0.005 percent of the later DPX models.
Sound adjustment is a two-band tone control at 100 Hz and 10 kHz, each across plus or minus 10 dB. Output is model-specific: the RX-750MD is rated at 22W x 4 into 4 ohms at 1 kHz and 1 percent THD with a maximum of 40W x 4, where the RX-650MD is rated at 20W x 4 with a maximum of 35W x 4. The pre-out delivers 1800 mV into 10 kohm with an output impedance of 600 ohm or less.
Supplied parts cover the power harness, four truss screws and one bind screw. No remote control is listed. The tuner is quoted with usable sensitivity measured at a 26 dB signal-to-noise reference rather than the 30 dB reference used by the later Kenwood units, so those figures are not directly comparable.
