JVC KW-MZ610

The JVC KW-MZ610 is a double-DIN receiver with MiniDisc and CD transports and an FM/AM tuner. It shares its chassis dimensions and amplifier specification with the KW-MCD410, at 178 x 100 x 169 mm overall against a 150 mm mounting depth and a mass of about 2.2 kg.

The MiniDisc section supports MDLP. The manual states that discs recorded with ATRAC3 give up to 320 minutes in LP4 mode and 160 minutes in LP2 from an 80 minute disc, that the display shows an indicator for whichever mode is in use, and that discs recorded on a non-MDLP recorder play in standard SP mode without an indicator. Frequency response is 20 Hz -> 20 kHz with dynamic range of 92 dB and signal-to-noise of 93 dB.

The CD section is specified at 44.1 kHz sampling with a frequency response of 5 Hz -> 20 kHz, dynamic range of 98 dB and signal-to-noise of 99 dB. MP3 discs are supported, with ID3 tag display and dedicated repeat and random modes that the manual notes apply only during MP3 playback.

An amp gain setting is documented under the SEL menu, switching maximum output between a High Power default of 45W and a Low Power setting limited to 30W, to suit the rated input of the connected speakers. The display carries a level meter with five selectable animation modes, described as rising from the bottom, falling from the top like a shower, spreading from the centre, rotating, and a rolling cycle of the four, along with an off position. A DSP section provides listening position adjustment, and the equaliser settings can be stored to memory.

Connections comprise a DIN jack input, an auxiliary input on a 3.5 mm stereo mini jack and one set of RCA pre-outs at 2.0V into 1 kohm. The aerial terminal is a combined external FM/AM connector to JASO plug specification.
