Carrozzeria (Pioneer) FH-P070MD

The Carrozzeria FH-P070MD is a double-DIN main unit with MiniDisc and CD transports, an FM/AM tuner and a DSP section. Pioneer's description on the manual cover is MD/CD/チューナー・WMA/MP3/AAC/WAV 対応 DSP メインユニット, listing four compressed formats. It is the broadest decoder set of any unit recorded in this archive.
The CD transport decodes MP3 to MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 Audio Layer-3, WMA to versions 7, 7.1, 8 and 9 in two-channel audio, AAC in MPEG-4 form limited to files encoded by iTunes, and WAV in Linear-PCM and MS ADPCM. Both transports are specified with 44.1 kHz sampling and 16-bit linear quantisation. The CD section returns 94 dB signal-to-noise on the IHF-A network with 94 dB dynamic range across 5 -> 20,000 Hz, and the MiniDisc section 90 dB on both counts across 20 -> 20,000 Hz.
The audio section carries a 13-band equaliser at 50, 80, 125, 200, 315, 500, 800 Hz and 1.25, 2, 3.15, 5, 8 and 12.5 kHz, adjustable across plus or minus 12 dB. The network high-pass filter operates at 50, 63, 80, 100, 125, 160 or 200 Hz with a slope of flat, 6 or 12 dB per octave and gain from minus 24 dB to 0 dB. The subwoofer output covers the same seven frequency points with a slope of 6, 12 or 18 dB per octave, gain from minus 24 dB to plus 6 dB, and selectable normal or reverse phase. Both filter sections offer more frequency points than any other Carrozzeria unit here.
Output is rated at 22W x 4 across 50 -> 15,000 Hz at 5 percent THD with a maximum of 50W x 4. The pre-out reaches 2.2V into 1 kohm, the highest Carrozzeria pre-out recorded here. Supplied parts include a remote control, a CR2025 lithium cell and a microphone for acoustic measurement.
Its FM tuner is quoted at 8 dBf usable sensitivity with 45 dB stereo separation and 75 dB signal-to-noise, the strongest tuner figures of the Carrozzeria units in this archive.
