Carrozzeria (Pioneer) FH-P005MD

The Carrozzeria FH-P005MD is a double-DIN main unit with MiniDisc and CD transports, an FM/AM tuner and a DSP section. Pioneer's description on the manual cover is MD/CD/チューナー・MP3 対応・DSP メインユニット, identifying MP3 support as a distinguishing feature against the FH-P003MD below it, which carries no MP3 decoder.
The CD transport decodes MP3 to the MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 Audio Layer-3 formats. Both transports are specified with 44.1 kHz sampling and 16-bit linear quantisation. The CD section returns 94 dB signal-to-noise on the IHF-A network with 92 dB dynamic range across 5 -> 20,000 Hz, and the MiniDisc section 90 dB on both counts across 20 -> 20,000 Hz.
The audio section carries a nine-band equaliser at 50, 100, 200, 400, 800 Hz and 1.6, 3.15, 6.3 and 12.5 kHz, adjustable across plus or minus 12 dB. This is the same nine-band arrangement fitted to the FH-P003MD, against the 13-band equalisers of the FH-P070MD, FH-P717MD and FH-P9000MD.
A network high-pass filter operates at 50, 63, 80, 100 or 125 Hz with a slope of 6 or 12 dB per octave. A separate subwoofer output covers the same frequency points with a slope of 12 or 18 dB per octave, gain adjustable from minus 24 dB to plus 6 dB, and selectable normal or reverse phase.
Output is rated at 22W x 4 across 50 -> 15,000 Hz at 5 percent THD with a maximum of 50W x 4. The pre-out reaches 1.8V into an output impedance of 1 kohm. Supplied parts include a remote control with a CR2025 lithium cell. At 1.8 kg excluding the cord unit this is the lightest double-DIN Carrozzeria recorded here.
