The Carrozzeria MEH-P515 is a single-DIN main unit with a MiniDisc transport and an FM/AM tuner. Pioneer's description on the manual cover is MD/チューナーメインユニット. It carries no CD transport of its own and instead provides multi-CD control for an external changer. Mounting dimensions are 178 x 50 x 162 mm with a mass of 1.1 kg excluding the cord unit, making this the lightest unit in the archive.
The MiniDisc section is specified with 44.1 kHz sampling and 16-bit linear quantisation, a frequency response of 20 -> 20,000 Hz within plus or minus 1 dB, signal-to-noise of 94 dB at 1 kHz on the IHF-A network and dynamic range of 92 dB. That signal-to-noise figure is the highest quoted for any MiniDisc transport recorded here.
The audio section is built around a three-band parametric equaliser. Each band takes a selectable centre frequency and a selectable Q factor, quoted at a 6 dB boost, with plus or minus 12 dB of adjustment. The low band covers 40, 80, 100 or 160 Hz, the middle band 200, 500 Hz, 1 kHz or 2 kHz, and the high band 3.15, 8, 10 or 12.5 kHz. All three offer Q factors of 0.35, 0.59, 0.95 or 1.15.
Separate from the parametric equaliser, a conventional tone control provides bass at 40, 63, 100 or 160 Hz and treble at 2.5, 4, 6.3 or 10 kHz, each with plus or minus 12 dB of gain. A subwoofer output is crossed over at 50, 80 or 125 Hz with a 12 dB per octave slope and plus or minus 12 dB of gain. The loudness contour is specified at three levels, with the high setting applying 11 dB at both 100 Hz and 10 kHz.
Output is rated at 22W x 4 across 50 -> 15,000 Hz at 5 percent THD, with a maximum of 50W x 4. The specification also lists a bridged mode of 70W into 1 channel at 2 ohms for subwoofer use, with the load impedance entry noting 2 ohm operation for that single channel. The pre-out reaches 2.2V into an output impedance of 1 kohm. No remote control is listed among the supplied parts.
