Addzest DMZ355

The Addzest DMZ355 is a double-DIN centre unit with CD and MiniDisc transports and an FM/AM tuner. Addzest was Clarion's domestic Japanese brand. The manual covers the DMZ355 and the DMZ356 on a shared specification page.

The CD section is quoted at 100 dB signal-to-noise with 95 dB dynamic range across 5 Hz -> 20 kHz within plus or minus 1 dB, and 0.01 percent distortion. The MiniDisc section returns 90 dB signal-to-noise, 85 dB dynamic range and 0.01 percent distortion at 1 kHz across 20 Hz -> 20 kHz.

Sound processing is arranged in two independent layers. Z-Enhancer Plus provides five settings, listed as Bass Boost, Impact, Excite, User Custom and off. A separate five-mode DSP provides Stadium, Hall, Club, Church and Living Room settings, also with an off position. Magna Bass EX adds 10 dB at 50 Hz at volume step 14.

Tone control is a two-band arrangement. Bass is selectable at 60, 100 or 200 Hz, and its range is asymmetric, quoted as plus 16 dB and minus 12 dB. Treble is selectable at 10 or 15 kHz across plus or minus 12 dB. The auxiliary input has three selectable sensitivity settings for a 2V output, at 2.1V, 1.3V and 650 mV, with the low setting requiring the largest input.

Output is rated at 17W x 4 across 20 Hz -> 20 kHz at 1 percent into 4 ohms, with a maximum of 50W x 4. Line out is quoted at 1.8V measured from CD at 1 kHz. Current draw is 3.0A at 1W output, with 15A and 3A fuses. No remote control is listed among the supplied parts.
