Addzest ADB345MP

The Addzest ADB345MP is a double-DIN centre unit with a CD transport, a cassette deck and an FM/AM tuner. The manual describes it as a 2DIN CD/MP3/カセット センターユニット. It is the only unit in this archive combining a cassette deck with MP3 decoding.

The CD transport decodes MP3 to MPEG-1 Audio Layer-3. Supported sampling rates are listed by MPEG generation: 32, 44.1 and 48 kHz for MPEG-1, 16, 22.05 and 24 kHz for MPEG-2, and 8, 11.025 and 12 kHz for MPEG-2.5. Bit rates run 32 -> 320 kbps including variable bit rate for MPEG-1, and 8 -> 160 kbps for MPEG-2 and MPEG-2.5. Disc structure is read as CD-ROM mode 1 or mode 2 form 1 with automatic detection, in ISO9660 level 1 and 2, Joliet or Romeo logical formats, across up to eight folder levels. The unit holds a maximum of 128 folders and 256 files including folders, with file and folder names up to 64 and 32 single-byte characters in Joliet.

The CD section is quoted at 100 dB signal-to-noise with 95 dB dynamic range across 10 Hz -> 20 kHz within plus or minus 1 dB and 0.01 percent distortion. The cassette deck returns 30 Hz -> 18 kHz frequency response, 45 dB channel separation at 1 kHz and 0.06 percent WRMS wow and flutter, with a fast wind or rewind of a C-60 cassette in about 110 seconds.

Tone control is a three-band arrangement fixed at 100 Hz, 1 kHz and 10 kHz, each across plus or minus 10 dB, alongside a four-mode equaliser. Magna Bass EX adds 8 dB at 100 Hz and 6 dB at 10 kHz at minus 32 dB volume.

Output is rated at 17W x 4 across 20 Hz -> 20 kHz at 1 percent into 4 ohms with a maximum of 50W x 4. Current draw is 3.0A at 1W output with a 15A fuse. At 183 mm deep with a 156.5 mm mounting depth, this is the deepest chassis recorded here.
